Rajshahi University (RU) celebrated its 70th founding anniversary on Thursday amid much enthusiasm and festivities.
RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Golam Shabbir Sattar inaugurated the anniversary programmes by releasing pigeons and balloons in the morning. During that time, national flag and university flag were hoisted on the campus.
Pro-vice chancellors, syndicate members, faculty director, Bangabandhu chair Prof Sanath Kumar Saha and other senior officials of the university were present.
RU VC Prof Sattar said the university has been playing a glorious role in the field of higher education and research for seven decades. He urged everyone to work dedicatedly to take this seven-decade-old university further from its current position.
RU Registrar Abdus Salam conducted the programme. Later, a procession was brought out on the campus celebrating the day.
A book titled ‘Rajshahi University’s Seven Decades: Smriti Satta Prashant’ written by Bangabandhu Chair Prof Sanath Kumar Saha was also unveiled in the conference room of Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Administration Building marking the day.by
