Educational institutions across the country reopened today, Monday, after a consecutive five-day holiday due to the 13th National Parliamentary Election and other scheduled holidays.
All educational institutions remained closed on February 11 and 12 for the parliamentary election. This was followed by the weekly holidays on February 13 and 14 (Friday and Saturday).
On Sunday, academic activities in schools and colleges were suspended again on the occasion of Sri Sri Shivaratri Brata, as per the official holiday list of the Ministry of Education.
As a result, students enjoyed a continuous five-day break before classes resumed on Monday.
According to an analysis of the Education Ministry’s annual holiday calendar, this was the first major extended break of the year and the fifth listed holiday period in the schedule.
Meanwhile, government, semi-government, autonomous and private offices and institutions also reopened on Sunday (February 15) after a four-day holiday.
Authorities expect normal academic and administrative activities to resume fully from today.
