Highest number of Covid-19 cases recorded in a day; 104 dead, 8,364 infected

One hundred and four people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With this the total number of deaths in the country has reached 14,276 and the death rate stands at 1.59 percent.

At least 8,364 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 8,96,770, added the release. This is the highest number of cases recorded in a day in Bangladesh.

The current positivity rate is 23.86 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.71 percent.

A total of 35,059 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours.

At least 3,570 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 8,07,673 and the recovery rate at 90.06 percent.

Among the 104 deceased, 68 were men and 36 were women. Of them, five were within 21-30 years old, four between 31-40, 14 between 41-50, 23 between 51-60 and 58 were above 60 years old, added the release.
