Prof Yunus cleared in graft case

Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus has been acquitted in a corruption case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Judge Md Rabiul Alam of the Special Judge’s Court-4 of Dhaka passed the acquittal order on Sunday.

The development comes four days after his acquittal in the case filed for labour violations and three days after the interim government led by Prof Yunus took oath.

Nurjahan Begum, also an adviser to the interim government, was also implicated in the same corruption case.

Earlier on Aug 5, Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister and left Dhaka for India amid a mass uprising led by students and the public, and on August 6 President Mohammed Shahabuddin dissolved the parliament, paving the way for the interim government.
